External WiFi: Interface Down (HCL?)

Open BzowK opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

Hey Guys -

It's been a while since I tried CrankShaft, so wanting to use it; I imaged a card with the latest build as of 8/20/19, installed, and started it up. Everything seems to work great including bluetooth & AA over USB - everything except WiFi. My RPi doesn't have WiFi integrated, but have tried 3 different USB adapters - all of which I've used with RPis in the past and no matter what I try, the wlan0 interface is shown as "down."

Below are environmental details, what I've tried without luck and a debug log...

Environment Specs

  • RasPi: 3 B v1.2
  • Screen: Official Touch Screen
  • Power: 5V 2.1A -> RPi (Screen powered by pins on RasPi - No lightning bolt)
  • USB Bluetooth: Startech USBBT1EDR4
  • USB WiFi: DB-Link RTL8188CU / D-Link DWA-125 / Alfa AWUS036H (I am 90% sure that I used the DWA-125 with an older build of CrankShaft a few months ago)
  • Phone: Samsung S9+ /w Latest OS build
  • CrankShaft Build: E2B068B 2019-08-08

What I've Tried

  • All 3 of the USB adapters above with shutting down & removing power in between each test
  • Powering the RPi & Screen separately using 5V/2.1A for each (Never get lightning bolt)
  • Enabling DEV mode and configuring WiFi within file in crankshaft folder of SD
  • Starting with only WiFi attached (no BT or phone) to ensure it wasn't a power issue
  • Verified CrankShaft was set to default of Client mode (not Hotspot)

Debug Log debug.zip

Any suggestions and/or is there an official HCL which lists compatible USB adapters?

Thanks!
