Site visit count

As an administrator, I want to see how many visitors have been to the page.

@summerbeth - I think that user visitor counts can be collected by a service like Google Analytics - or.. if you prefer - something like Matomo [Matomo supports MySQL as a DB store - and that's what OB uses - so that seems a good fit.]

I think there are potentially some bigger questions here though - things like

  • unique visitors (so pressing F5 shouldn't log as 2 visits).
  • Anonymous vs logged in users?
  • Cumulative visitor counts - or in the last 30 days?
  • Just the home page? leaderboard?

I've had some limited experience with matomo (a colleague set it up at a previous employer). If it's ok with you, I shall have a go at setting up matomo (locally obviously) and figure out what needs to change to add support for it. If you have a preference then let me know

It would need to be something which is privacy preserving, so GA is out.

Feel free to set up Matomo or similar.
