FOI suggestion site
Create a site that allows people to submit suggestions for FOI requests when, for whatever reason, they can't or don't want to submit one via RTK themselves.
The suggestion would then be made public and someone else could submit the request on their behalf.
I feel that this would be better as a secondary OAF project (if at all) and not as part of Right to Know. Feel free to re-open if you disagree.

This proposed experiment is also relevant: https://github.com/mysociety/alaveteli-experiments/issues/106
Access Info have done a version of this around a specific campaign https://www.access-info.org/commissioners-expenses All the requests made in a few days, one returned successfully so far.
Wonder if https://securedrop.org/ is any use for this?
Hi @henare I am interested in this project as part of outreachy. How do I get started?
Hi @PrernaGargPG thanks for your interest 👍
We'll work on this project during the internship period. For your application you should follow the instructions in our blog post https://www.openaustraliafoundation.org.au/2017/03/24/join-us-for-a-3-month-paid-full-time-internship-and-start-transforming-our-democracy/comment-page-1/#applying and the Outreachy site (which has more detail) https://wiki.gnome.org/Outreachy#Application_Process
This project might included lots of ruby on rails development, so in the issues you select to work on as part of your application you might want to lean towards those types of bugs and also improvements to form interfaces. Email me if you have any more questions (my emails in the blog post) :)
If more than one person is allowed to work on a project I would also like to work on this project with @PrernaGargPG if my first PR and application for outreachy is successful, Thank you. @equivalentideas
Hey @avaldivi thanks for your interest! We'll almost certainly just be taking one internship this round of Outreachy :) We're a tiny team and that's all we can manage. You're very welcome to apply though 👍
@equivalentideas I would like to work on this project. Can you tell me what all i really expected so that I can prepare myself to work with you?
Can you tell me what all i really expected so that I can prepare myself to work with you?
@Shraddha15 we'd probably be building something using the Ruby on Rails framework that we tend to use. So you'll need to have some experience building applications with rails. We'll be working on this project with our Outreachy intern this year (if this is the project they choose).
You can read about how to apply for the internship here: https://www.openaustraliafoundation.org.au/2017/03/24/join-us-for-a-3-month-paid-full-time-internship-and-start-transforming-our-democracy/
Thank You @equivalentideas
@equivalentideas I am a bit confused. Is the project ---Create a site that allows people to submit suggestions for FOI requests when, for whatever reason, they can't or don't want to submit one via RTK themselves.
The suggestion would then be made public and someone else could submit the request on their behalf.(as mentioned by henare in the very first post )or the projects on this link https://www.openaustraliafoundation.org.au/projects/
Hi @equivalentideas , From the past few days I have been reading about the projects and was going through the source code as well. Though I found the project interesting and exciting to work on the project creating a site for FOI. Do we need to create using HTML & CSS, or in python on Django platform, I feel excited to contribute to open Australia projects.
@Shreya1771 there si already python project for requests via predefined templates on: https://fragdenstaat.de/fragdenbundestag/
Database: https://fragdenstaat.de/kampagne/wissenschaftlicher-dienst/
Repo: https://github.com/okfde/froide-campaign
Based on: https://github.com/okfde/froide https://github.com/okfde/fragdenstaat_de (theme)
@schlos Okay now I got it, So I'll be contributing to make a site that allows people to submit suggestions for FOI requests when, for whatever reason, they can't or don't want to submit one via RTK themselves.
Access Info Europe have written about the launch of their system and how they managed the campaign. This is really useful for the types of tools the people using an FOI suggestion tool might need.
