Legend to describe glyph attributes

Open saxondigital opened this issue 8 years ago • 0 comments

Need a legend structure to describe the attributes of the glyphs. This is a rather complex task as it needs to correspond to the forest of glyph trees and their external data sources.

A legend may be shown in a list form similar to traditional cartography maps or represented as a 3D glyph with multiple tags (attached directly or with pointers linked to a list.)

A single scene may contain distinct glyphs representing different hierarchical structures, (for example when scenes are combined.) This requires supporting multiple independent legends mapped to specific sets of glyphs.

A legend may span several glyphs and multiple branch levels within a glyph. Such as when the root node(s) (geometry, size, color…) represent distinct categories or when branch level represents a class. Individual legends may be grouped by an attribute type such as defining a color palette.

There is a direct relationship between the legend(s) and import filter mapping, including defined range and other translation attributes. So the legend is directly tied to the import translation filter structure, nodes, channels and tracks.
