[Tracker Issue] Itemize Requirements and Implementation for Prometheus Receiver Tests
Document Prometheus receiver tests needed to verify it is functioning as expected. This doc will also itemize expected behavior.
@vishiy were you going to add some documentation on itemizing the Prometheus receiver tests. A doc or test cases would great to have.
@RichiH do you have any tests for configuration and receiver tests expected for Prometheus? Can you please share some docs or links to existing tests?
We don't, but I would love to get alignment and if you write tests those could be upstreamed to Prometheus.

@RichiH - We started a preliminary list of prometheus receiver compatibility cases, in the above doc. We would want to ensure prom config compatibility & also data compatibility between prom receiver & prom, i believe ? Can you please help by taking a look (thank you!). Also fyi @jmacd , to get his feedbacks from special cases handled by him in his side car as we discussed in last SIG. @alolita @dashpole , please take a look as well.
Requirements are complete. Once implementation PRs are merged, this issue should be closed.
