They are dropped since Prometheus Histograms don't have these kinds of information in them.

ouch, my expectation of end-to-end histogram metric fidelity with Prometheus (or some compatible TSDB) just got crushed. That means that we explicitly need to design our observability architecture with aux histogram metrics for min, max and exporters accordingly.

There's no OTTL magic pixie dust to tape over this in the OTel collector, per chance?
