[Feature Request]: Add licence

Currently the project doesnt seem to have a license. Could you please add one so that its clear what one can and cant do with the code.

Oh, I was expecting to find a LICENSE file, like in other projects, my bad. Perhaps you could duplicate the file or link to it in the readme?

COPYING is fairly common; github at least seems to pick it up from there.
