Move repository over to ibm-capi org?

Open ajdlinux opened this issue 8 years ago • 6 comments

@stewart-ibm has pointed out that the open-power GitHub organisation is generally reserved for system firmware and related tools, which this repository isn't.

In any case - it looks like all the fun CAPI toys are over at https://github.com/ibm-capi, so for the sake of discoverability it seems like it would be a good idea to move this repo over there. It looks like GitHub sets up appropriate redirects when you do this, so hopefully it shouldn't break anything.

@ajdlinux - I'd be OK with this. We placed the repo in open-power because (at the time) there really wasn't a particularly good alternative. @vageline - what say you? Any objections?

My $0.02

Keep it on GitHub please, let’s not start spreading Git servers all over the place. IT works, is reliable and ‘open’.

Hi @lvcargnini - I'm not proposing to move it off GitHub, just to put it at https://github.com/ibm-capi, which is where basically all the other IBM CAPI related Git repositories are stored on GitHub. This will make it clear exactly where to go to find all CAPI-related utilities on GitHub.

GitHub will also automatically redirect old links to the existing location so it shouldn't break anything!

Yes, we are. We're just thinking the ibm-capi org on github rather than the open-power one.

Assuming we can get redirects to work so it "just works"

Got it!

I understood, as you pointed, out of GitHub, so yes you write all OPF related should come into the GitHub/OPF domain.
