Faster interface

There are a bunch of reports about various big websites like "Half a second delay caused a 20% drop in traffic." I want it to be as quick as possible to add data to the system.

I am wondering if there are some changes that could speed things up.

For example, currently the user interface has animations that take some milliseconds after clicking a button. Would eliminating these animations make the interface snappier?

Bumping this because the animations turn the app from responsive to seriously completely unusable for me - this would be fixed by adding a button to disable all animations.
