Backends timing and display problems
Hi @smathot
There are some problems I am encountering with opensesame and it's backends. I have actually raised this last year but it doesn't seem to have been solved.
it seems that psychopy and xpyriment backends have some delays displaying stuff (see photo below). I just made this very simple experiment displaying two short videos, and when I look into the debug afterwards I see a number of warnings suggesting that the displays are taking around 40 - 60 ms. However, I do not see any of these warnings on the pygame. I don;t know if this is because pygame is working properly or simply the warnings are suppressed there. Because the dpocumentation of opensesame often mentions that pygame is not good with timing, I am worried that actually using it for an experiment (which I have in the past) might affect my data.
Additionally, the psychopy backend seems to have a problem displaying the videos, it shows a blank screen, this is resolved by switching backends but again, I am not sure if this is a wise solution, considering the aspects I described above.
As always thanks so much for your work on OS and related open source tools!
Cheers,
Helio
