[Feature Request] Out of the box spacevim-like keybind style

Open reyzavk opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

Spacevim / Spacemacs is terrific. Mnemonic keybinding, minimum hand movement, no CTRL, ESC, nor meta. It's easy to learn, just hit space and it guides you. It's batteries included, no configuration needed, just single download. Imo, vim by itself, isn't that interesting outside of devops, however I find it hard to convert to vscode because spacemacs / spacevim is just superb.

Oni2 is reasonably fast and backed by vscode's vast library of plugins. I think what we need is, the power of spacevim to make it perfect.

I'd love to see that as well. Especially the leader-guide feature to navigate you through a simple shortcut-based menu.

fwiw - I have been a long term backer and this is an absolute requirement for me.

(even though you've already got my money  I just won't be using Oni 2 or recommending it to anyone else)

Especially the leader-guide feature to navigate you through a simple shortcut-based menu.

The bottom bar ala Spacemacs is much better than binding to a vscode-style menu. That ui is crap.

any progress on this? spacemacs like spacebar navigation for functions would be mind blowing and lead me to buy

My dream editor is spacemacs + magit with vscode language extensions and paid for support and great documentation with regular stable releases. Not asking for much eh?

I've paid for a licence, as I want to support the effort even if it doesn't end up being the editor for me. I have tried to leave spacemacs a bunch of times and always end up back there.

I also want to point out that this would be mega awesome to have! i use doom emacs for my daily dev work, but I would love to have a more modern and approachable environtment, so I started backing onivim. Very quickly I realized that the vim side of things only is half of what I want. The spacemacs/spacevim/doom side of things is what makes it really superb.

Speaking of that (I will search the issues and create a new one if needed): Binding as leader as described in https://onivim.github.io/docs/configuration/key-bindings#leader-key does not work for me on ubuntu. Ver 0.5.9-nightly.
