Ctrl+Click/Middle Click functionality

Ability to Ctrl+Click/Middle Click to open tabs (& maybe groups/sessions?) in the background(same window) so you don't lose focus and stay in the One Tab Group tab. Since that's the standard for how chrome handles links I think it would be a nice addition.

That's a great idea, we do support Ctrl+Click to open tabs now. You can try it.

Ctrl + Click conflicts with what is universally expected and for that reason I think it is better to change it to the default of Scroll Wheel Click to open in backgroun. Additional shortcuts could be Ctrl + Right Click or Alt + Left Click (unless this has the potential to upset the browser for some reason. I can't think of a situation where this would conflict with either the OS or the browser itself).

I'll refer to this comment of mine in issue #69 for context.

If you're talking about selecting things then sure, Ctrl + Click selects individual items and Shift + Click selects a chain of items. But given that these are links, the accepted standard for link handling is Middle Click/Ctrl + Click = Open tab in background. Effectively every browser uses this standard for links, don't see why there should be an inconsistency now.

Chrome and FireFox's own bookmark manager also assign Ctrl + Left Click to bookmark selection, as does their history manager. The reason for this is that fundamentally the function of the utility is closer to a file manager than a document or website. So although it's true that the items also serves as links, item selection and management is a major part of the purpose it serves. It is also quite vital from the perspective of productivity and usability.

In addition to this, item selection is also intuitively correlated to items being draggable by mouse.

Whereas if it was a document editor the need for selecting and organizing links wouldn't make much sense. Though, even in document editors you use Ctrl to accommodate selection for bookmarks in the integrated bookmark manager.

Having said this, I support the suggestion for this feature (although with a more appropriate shortcut). It is definitely useful to be able to open links in the background and I think it is achieved just as well by the use of the scroll wheel or Alt + Left Click. :)

Consider me convinced. I think middle click suffices for open in background.
