Open shresthaalok opened this issue 7 months ago • 12 comments

Hi, I am new to this and wanted to see if we can replace the existing BOE board DV430FHM-NN5 in the mirror with a replacement that is available in the ebay. I am then planning to add a raspberry pi.

Thank you in advance for your answser.

If you do this then you don't need to do anything else with the tv controller right? you can just connect a rpi and that's it?

You need the TV controller to turn on the Mirror unless you use a smart plug or something else.

Oh I meant that if this board also handles the backlight instead of the scalar board.

Thank you all, Hi @agileselenium, do you by any chance share some pictures on how to connect various cables that comes with above ebay board? Really appreciate it.

Hi, I am also not sure about the speaker wires. It appears that there are 4 wires coming out of each speaker, there are 2 speakers. I am trying to use an amplifier which take 2 wires for left and 2 wires for right. However, mirror has total 8 wires.

Hi @shresthaalok, I just purchased this main board since I also couldn't find a Vizio board w/ all of the other cables and accessories that the original guide recommended. Do you mind sharing your experience with setting everything up?

Hi @georgehwho, this board worked for me. I am using rPi for magicmirror.

Thanks for the reply, @shresthaalok do you mind attaching a picture of how you wired everything up? I'm curious to see how everyone else is doing it.

@shresthaalok also has BOE board and bought the same ebay item, but the original guides seems no use the same one, could you share how you connect them together? do we need to connect the backlight power output to somewhere? Thank you!

@georgehwho did you buy the same board? did you successfully make it work?

VictorChenLi avatar Oct 19 '25 16:10 VictorChenLi

Ok, let me close the loop here, I just got it work, so the backlight power output the one I circled above in red don't needed if you bought this board, you just need to connect the LVDS to the mirror ones as the tutorial mentioned and connect the power you are good to go
