Tim, wow this completely fell through the cracks. Apologies. I have not been able to reproduce this condition as easily as I thought I could and don't have anything other than anecdotal evidence that its a good thing to catch this condition. At any rate, feel free to dispose of the pull request as you see fit.

I do see another potentially related report How error handle on StreamBarcodeReader #60

Will keep an eye out in case it pops up.
