Feature Request: Pfsense Package
PFsense is the security conscious home router/firewall/dns server and so much more. Please create a package for DNSchain on PFsense it would instantly increase your user base and is a perfect fit.
Good suggestion! :+1:
I would also love this. I also currently run pfsense.
There's a lot of work to be done, and contributions are more than welcome. If anyone wants to make this happen sooner, or is interested in donating a bounty for it, you are more than welcome to announce your interest/intent and take the wheel. :)
Do you folks know if there are routers using PFSense that are capable of running a full namecoin node for this to make sense? cc @Napoleon
I run pfsense in a vm on an ESXi box with 16 cores. I'm not too familiar with how other people are using pfsense, but it is popular in the homelab/home server vm world.
Seems like this could be easier, though. Could just add the IP address of the machine running DNSChain/Namecoin as a DNS server in pfsense settings?

OK, sounds powerful enough. Mostly the RAM usage is a concern, it needs a good amount. A machine with 1GB of ram should be enough though.

Yes, but it would defeat the point of the project if everyone did that. :P

I know the alix2d3 is (or at least it has been) a particular choice for SMEs and home users in order to run pfSense routers. I imagine most pfSense installations won't have more than 512 MB RAM.
Handy article that mentions PF sense: The ultimate OpenBSD router
