Procedural dungeon generation below bedrock

The underground can be made to imitate MC but since the MT depth is so vast there’s tons of content that can be generated further down.

So I imagine that on rare occasions natural tunnels will punch through the bedrock layer and lead down to a vast system of ancient dungeons, made up of a set of dungeon schematic prefabs but put together procedurally.

The dungeons would feature loot, mobs, traps and maybe some badass boss mob.

I'm surprised there isn't an existing lua mod for high quality dungeons. Geomoria is the closest I can think of and it's not the same thing.

I thought an interesting procedural dungeon would be like crack to modders.

Me too! And what better target for implementing it than Crafter. 😈

I've had some interesting reads on this game dev blog if someone is looking for inspiration.

Maybe we can get another server going (or a restricted plane at Y20000 at the current dev server) where we can experiment with and collaborate on prefabs.

The dungeons should be made out of something indestructable ofc, like bedrock bricks. If those are used only underground we can add some nice reverb to the step sounds, enhancing immersion. ☺️
