For the last point (forks not being easy to recognize), I made this quick mock up of how I think it could look like: 
I'm not entirely sure but I think you could use [`stopPropagationOn`](https://package.elm-lang.org/packages/elm/html/latest/Html-Events#stopPropagationOn) on the input to avoid the events from bubbling up.
