👉 Note to users and testers
Thanks so much for trying out OfficeLife. It's amazing that you are trying out a product that is currently being built, without any proper documentation on how to set it up and probably full of bugs.
Keep in mind that OfficeLife currently is not production ready.
We aim to launch a beta version in mid 2021, if stars align 🌞.
- Create an issue here if you want to raise a bug.
- Create a Discussion instead if you want to share an idea, a suggestion, or discuss an improvement about OfficeLife.
🆘 We have some kind of documentation: https://docs.officelife.io.
The documentation portal is currently being written. This documentation portal also needs some love before it's ready.
Enjoying it so far. Can't wait to see what it can do once it's v1!
My only concern at the moment is in file uploads. I'm not familiar with UploadCare; I would much prefer to store my files on my own drives. I haven't been able to go near the files because of this.
I would like for OfficeLife to associate client or customers with projects. My real goal is to search for files by customer. Once a project is complete (and paid), the customer can download all of their files as a zip. Paired with the automated flows, the employees would just need to focus on their tasks, while the customer is automatically informed.
Hi,
I'm very exciting about your new project! I think there are a lot of good features in this, that are not in the big software. Especially the section about one-on-one's.
Could be an idea to see how this can be a collaboration sheet for managers and their direct reports, instead of only being something for the manager.

I know :-( This was a tough decision. I wrote about it here: https://github.com/officelifehq/officelife/discussions/745

Interesting. That would mean allow external clients to OfficeLife? Like Basecamp does?

What do you mean? Keep in mind that One on Ones are bi directional. Everything that the manage sees, the employee sees it too. The One on One entry is displayed on both the Dashboard "Me" section if you are the direct report, as well as the Dashboard "Manager" section if you are the manager.
Is there a docker-compose file I can use to test drive this? I tried .devcontainer did not load up anything in localhost:8080
I don't think there is any yet; I managed to deploy it to heroku. There i can test mostly everything.

Unfortunately not yet. We hope someone will be able to provide one 😄

Allowing external clients to OfficeLife like Basecamp would be a good feature. And it seems like you may have built OfficeLife with this in mind (since one account can login to several companies). I don't think hardly any of my clients would ever actually login. I agree, though. I would love to have the ability to have some sort of area for adding clients so that I could tie projects to clients. What I'm doing now is naming a project "Client Name - Project name." This works for now. But it would be better if I could have client organizations in OfficeLife as well as a place to add contacts within that organization for record keeping. Then, if I wanted to or needed to, I could invite one of those contacts into the system so that they could see the projects tied to their organization.
If you go this route, though, you will need a way to seperate internal communication on projects and tasks from external communication that clients can see. This could be tricky.
Love the concept! Nice! Cant wait to really dig in - possible test drive it with my company team
Is a beta release still planned in the near future? Or could I have missed it?
@meichthys already here: https://beta.officelife.io/login
