Q: ignore or exclude files from source archive & wheel?

Does this plugin have any features for ignoring or excluding files whose names match a pattern?

I ask because I'm a first-timer with packaging modules for PyPI. I was unpleasantly surprised that so many files appeared in the source archive that was built. Some were files ignored by Git using rules in .gitignore. I shouldn't expect hatch to follow those rules, too, but I hoped it would offer some similar feature, but apparently it does not. I see that "setuptools-scm" seems to have this feature, so I hoped to find similar support for hatch.
