[e-learning] Create e-learning material for the usage of the software packages

Open fwitte opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

In my opinion, supplementary videos for the oemof example or video tutorials would be very nice additions to the framework to facilitate easy(/ier) access to the usage of the software packages. Possible ways to create such material could be to

  • record dedicated videos for this purpose (might be a lot of additional work) or to
  • record tutorial sessions in the user meetings (might have lower quality)

Generally, a downside of videos is, that the material has to be updated according to future changes in the API and thus might create additional work (a lot more work than just updating a python script in the examples repository).

Any feedback or ideas on this topic? Might also add this to the topics of the user meeting #93.

Actually, I prefere texts for tutorials. We might have something like Jupyter hosted somewhere. Even a book (wikibook?) might be more suitable. What if we turn the example repository into the basis of a coherent text that introduces, categorises and comments simple usage and best practice examples?

Update from the last meeting:

  1. Use teaching concept from @c-moeller (RLI): In oemof_heat we also developed a teaching concept and a planning game.
  2. Which format is useful and desired? (script, youtube, jupyter notebook)
  3. What would be the content of tutorials? (Basics (Sink & Sources), Installing an Environment, Interpreters, Solver, Github Introduction).
  4. Which universities use oemof in teaching and have a need for this content?

Is there funding for HiWis for the necessary humanpower? (e.g.: https://projects.tib.eu/etrainerfonds/foerderangebot)

Link the "human power" to the foundation?
