There is already a branch with Gradle support. But it lacks of recent changes.

You are right, those samples are a little outdated. It would be appreciated if you could contribute improving them.

rciovati, do you eventually want these moved over to gradle or still continue to use maven as well?

Added in a PR (#30) to address the retrofit example. Can update the rest once the that goes in.
