Did you assess how widespread the usage is ? I didn't know that was possible. Maybe it's better to kill the feature.

We've not checked usage but we could do, at least for packages in opam. The raw data we've gathered for the docs.ocaml.org prototype should be able to tell us. Apparently octavius used to be able to parse these, so it's probably not too tricky to support.

I still think this should no longer be supported (but documented). However the decision should not be made by a bot closing the issue :–)
