DNS entry for Staging Docs Data
We currently have the staging docs pipeline running at docs-staging.sw.ocaml.org
but are serving the static files generated from docs-data.ocamllabs.io
.
Please can we have a DNS CNAME entry in ocaml.org for these files? To be consistent with the current naming, this would be docs-data-staging.sw.ocaml.org
.
However, I wonder if we might standardise the staging naming with the other services. We have:
-
opam.ocaml.org
andstaging.opam.ocaml.org
, and -
ocaml.org
andstaging.ocaml.org
.
Therefore, can we have:
-
staging.docs.ci.ocaml.org
fordocs.ci.ocaml.org
(replacingdocs-staging.sw.ocaml.org
), and -
staging.docs-data.ocaml.org
and fordocs-data.ocaml.org
.
I've added staging.docs.ci.ocaml.org
-> 51.158.234.115 (and will remove docs-staging in a few weeks), but I didn't understand the second request. docs-data
points to 128.232.124.233 (a Computer Lab machine). Is that still being used, and should the staging
CNAME point to that or somewhere else?
Thank you.
The second part is to create staging.docs-data.ocaml.org
as a CNAME pointing to staging.docs.ci.ocaml.org
(or as an A record with the IP 51.158.234.115)
Both staging and live have two names for the same machine. One name for the pipeline and one for the static files. For live, those names are: docs.ci.ocaml.org
and docs-data.ocaml.org
. Both A records. Live is running on eumache
in the Computer Lab. For staging, I would like staging.docs.ci.ocaml.org
and staging.docs-data.ocaml.org
.
Thanks; staging.docs.ci.ocaml.org and staging.docs-data.ocaml.org should both now point to 51.158.234.115.
Candidates for deletion then are:
-
docs-staging.sw.ocaml.org
-
docs-staging.ocaml.org
-
docs-dream.ocaml.org
(pending your agreement)
@avsm Thank you. docs-staging.sw.ocaml.org
and docs-staging.ocaml.org
can now be deleted.
Regarding docs-dream.ocaml.org
, this currently points to eumache
in the Computer Lab. There is no configuration on that machine to respond to docs-dream.ocaml.org
therefore I would conclude that this is a legacy URL and can be deleted. cc @sabine for confirmation.
I have personally never heard of docs-dream.ocaml.org and I also received no requests/complaints from the community about it.
@avsm I think we can retire docs-dream.ocaml.org
.
