Interpret normal regular expressions syntax

The syntax used by sedlex for regexs is a bit... let's say baroque. :)

It would be nice to have Something of the form Re {|.... |}.

Maybe I'll take a crack at it then. Do you know any package that has a particularly good regex parser I might steal?
