Seems to have to do with the "Always minimize to system tray instead of task bar" option. Disabling that resolves the behavior.

I believe these options probably need to be re-examined generally in the context of macOS. The functionality offered between here and Windows isn't exactly comparable (and in the case of this third option, is fairly broken), and the terminology is obviously not even referring to macOS concepts.

I would prefer if OBS minimized that it will go to the MacOS menu bar.

I agree, that OBS needs to re-examine this and make this section friendly to MacOS.

I also want to mention that I do want this feature on: Always minimize to system tray instead of task bar" option. Disabling that resolves the behavior. I want this feature ON. I want to minimize OBS, and I don't want it in my MacOS dock. I want to access OBS from the MacOS menu bar.

I would like it if OBS lives in the MacOS Menu Bar. I don't care if OBS is in my dock. I want to access OBS from the MacOS menu bar. It would be a lot better and easier for me. I would prefer if that exists (similar to accessing OBS from your System Tray bar in Windows)
