Expected Behavior

Service: Custom... protocol: RTMP encoder: Apple VT HEVC Hardware Encoder

This config should result with audio and video received on viewer's side. This works as expected in OBS 3.1.2

Current Behavior

  • From OBS side it looks OK, no errors, streaming starts properly but on receivers side there is no audio and video
  • when I use another protocol like RTMPS/SRT or WHIP (Service: WHIP) it's OK (same settings)
  • when I switch to encoder x264 or Apple VT H264 Hardware Encoder it's OK (same settings)
  • when I downgrade to OBS 3.1.2 it's OK (same settings)

Steps to Reproduce

use macOS 14.7 with apple M1 unit

  1. Use OBS 3.2.2 or 3.2.3
  2. setup your stream to Service: Custom.. and use RTMP protocol path
  3. setup your Output to Video Encoder: Apple VT HEVC Hardware Encoder
  4. start stream and observe it on receiver's side

Anything else we should know?

This works fine in OBS Studio 30.2.3 on macOS 13.7 on M2 hardware when configuring Custom to stream to YouTube with RTMP and HEVC. I am inclined to think this is an issue on the receiving end in your setup.
