Import Apple Mail

I'd love a way to archive my old Apple Mail messages. I use POP mail so everything is on my own machine. I refer to messages as old as 20 years regularly. Obsidian would allow me to more easily link those messages. Current methods still leave the messages in the mail app. I've run into problems when my message count gets too high. I've tried several mail archive systmes but none provide the seamless linking I want.
