In most conditions a continuous axis (temporal or quantitative) should always show at least 2 ticks, so we get an idea of its domain. I believe that this should even be a default.

What we want to avoid is this situation which sometimes happens with responsive charts, and is hard to control.

And if there isn't enough space, it's better to have min and max, even if they are a bit crammed into each other, than just a non-informative 0.
