Thought we had a ticket for this...

The current defs are largely due to me. Currently we have an alternate proposal from @dosumis (can you post the link David?), based on continuity of cells. I think these can be combined. AFAICR David's proposal would have some problems with existing ontologies like ZFA where develops_from is used even when there is no cell continuity (e.g. cartilage replacement).

@alanruttenberg also points out issues with the direct form of this relation

Note: The proposal includes a relation for templating (covering cartilage replacement) - but doesn't make it the superproperty. I suspect any retrofit required by ZFA to cope with this would be manageable.

@Clare72: I think it may be worth reviving this paper in light of pending work on neuronal lineages in FBbt.
