dilated vs enlarged
Anna and I have been discussing dilated terms in the MP and how this relates to enlarged and abnormal size.
In general we propose that: dilated be used only for the lumen of an anatomical entity and not with the tissue around the space/lumen or any solid tissue enlarged be used only for solid tissue
This would mean the existing pattern should be used only with Uberon terms that are descendants of anatomical space.
We would like to add a new pattern using the following eq for terms where Uberon does not have an anatomical space term 'has_part' some ('dilated' and ('characteristic_of' some ('anatomical space' and 'luminal space of' some %s) and ('has_modifier' some 'abnormal'))
If others are okay. I'll put together a new pattern.
See https://github.com/mgijax/mammalian-phenotype-ontology/issues/4179 for more notes based on MP terms
@sbello we now need a new strategy to proceed with these kinds of requests, as basically every single curator for uPheno and uPheno adjacent projects from the Monarch side is gone. I would like to continue to support these requests, but I dont have the domain expertise to review the proposal - can you try to reach consensus between whoever is left on the phenotype ontology editors side and just make a PR?
@matentzn That was the plan. The ticket here is mainly for transparency. Assuming no one at the next editors' meeting objects I'll put in a PR with the new pattern.
