NTR - blood pressure - add systolic and diastolic
Can we add two terms Systolic blood pressure: Measurement of pressure in your arteries when your heart pumps blood Diastolic blood pressure: Measurement of pressure in your arteries when your heart is at rest between beats I would assume both of these would be children of "blood pressure trait" OBA_VT0000183, (or maybe of "arterial blood pressure trait" OBA_VT2000000). I'm not sure how to fully axiomatize the distinction of during and between heartbeats.
@ar-ibrahim this request falls under P1, can you handle it?
systolic blood pressure trait/attribute
When 'systolic blood pressure' is measured, it provides partial information on (or it is a marker of) the trait OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure. The measurement of 'systolic blood pressure' also provides partial information on the qualities of GO:0003073 regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure. While it is a very important clinical measurement of a specific phase of a biological process involving several anatomical entities forming a physiological unit, I am not aware of any specific single term of the type biological process or physiological unit (from GO or Uberon) that we could use as components to create an OBA term more specific than the existing OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure.
A 'maximal pressure' quality term is also absent from PATO. Maybe that term could be created first in PATO and used for the definition of an OBA 'systolic blood pressure' attribute according to NCIT definition the maximum pressure exerted into the systemic arterial circulation during the contraction of the left ventricle of the heart.
If we want to define 'systolic blood pressure' as a "measurement of pressure in your arteries when your heart pumps blood", then the existing term OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure is quite a close (if a little broad) match to the requested term.
Maybe adding 'systolic blood pressure' as a narrow synonym of OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure would suffice in the short term or until appropriate component ontology terms become available?
diastolic blood pressure trait/attribute
When 'diastolic blood pressure' is measured, it provides partial information on (or it is a marker of) the trait OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure.
The intersection of PATO:0002123 minimal and PATO:0001025 pressure might be a quality as a logical definition component that could be used in the definition of a new 'diastolic blood pressure' attribute with an intended meaning of The minimum pressure exerted into the systemic arterial circulation during cardiac ventricular relaxation and filling.
However, maybe adding 'systolic blood pressure' as a narrow synonym of OBA:0000143 systemic arterial blood pressure would suffice in the short term or until appropriate component ontology terms become available?
OBA:VT0000183 blood pressure trait and OBA:VT2000000 arterial blood pressure trait
The logical definitions of OBA:VT0000183 blood pressure trait and OBA:VT2000000 arterial blood pressure trait are arguably suboptimal and need to be updated and aligned with with other related and existing terms. The clinical interpretation of 'blood pressure' always meant in the context of the blood as a fluid inside of blood vessels.
