Feature request GeoIP blocking on incoming and outgoing connection

Open albertpaijmans opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Could you please add a simple feature to Lulu? With GeoIP blocking so you can add a country say France (sorry France) and then any incoming or outgoing connection on domain .fr or IP-ranges from France are always blocked no exceptions. Please add this feature in a way like a virus scanner that you can update the list but it works everywhere anytime without having to check online with an online connection with a database. Maybe have a textfile that is automatically synchronized or a small sql-lite database on MacOS. Thank you this a feature for whistleblowers. :D

I think this is too much of a niche feature to make sense for most people. However, what you can easily do is to download a GeoIP database of all French IPs / hostnames and block them via pfctl (if IPs) or /etc/hosts (easier if hostnames).

However, you would have to update your GeoIP file every now and then, ideally in an automated way.

And yeah, sorry France.

EDIT — or you could use this to load the GeoIP blocklist: image
