Fullscreen or not Fullscreen?

Is there a way to, when the user clicks an app, just resize the app (and open it) instead of occuping all the screen? It's great to keep all app icons visible when using a specific app. For example, a video player app could show just video titles, and when we click on a title, the video player grows a little to see the video (opening the app, but not fullscreen, just moving and adjusting other app positions).

Another feature is the ability to "close" automatically other opened apps when opening one.

These two features could be disabled to enable default behaviour (fullscreen and don't close automatically). Or better, each app could track its own opening behaviour.
