It's better to provide freedom of choice that set default mode is paren-mode or indent-mode, I prefer paren-mode. This is based on the precautionary principle, avoid opening old files are modified.

This issue has been open for a while. Have you been using Parinfer for the last several months? If so, do you still prefer Paren Mode as the default?
