Android keyboard doesn't work after VNC server start (and then until device reboot)

Open amarkosov opened this issue 12 years ago • 5 comments

The device is Galaxy Nexus, Android 4.1.1. When I start VNC server I can see the "Select keyboard layout" icon in the status bar. Screenshot_2013-02-07-12-45-11_

From this moment I can't use Android keyboard (it doesn't appear), even after VNC server stop. Only device reboot fixes the problem.

I use VNC server from Google Play (version 1.1RC0).

Thanks.

Confirmed on Nexus 4

Modify Settings "Hardware physical keyboard" option to say "OFF", so you will get the soft keyboard enabled in your device.

You can find it in "Settings > Language & input > Choose input methods"

In CM10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) I can't find an "Hardware physical keyboard" toggle (or something similar). Am I missing something?!

The above mentioned "Settings > Language &input > Choose input methods" will be available in Android 4.2 but not assured with the CM customised version. Posting the settings screen image after switching on the VNC server will help to get the solution.

Oh I found it! It's in the dialog that appears after tapping on "Default". Obviously in that way I keyboard stopped working via VNC. So the problem is not fixed, after stopping VNC server is needed to disable HW keyboard (and reenable at the next VNC server use, or reboot the phone).
