Shortcut and terminal command not working

The menu doesn't open when pressing the global hotkey, nor does it run when using it from the terminal (neither when piping into it)

same issue here, it only runs if you double click the app from finder or use spotlight to run it

Installed 0.7.2 via brew. I am on a Mac M1, Monterey. But can not get the global key to work. Tried different global keys. Spotlight is slow and I like the idea of having a lightweight app launcher.

I got it working by setting a hotkey in Hammerspoon to execute open -a dmenu-mac (this would also work from terminal or another hotkey program like simple hotkey skhd

what you can also do is setup a startup task or cronjob which will execute dmenu-mac in after login

From first impressions, what I understand is that you need to keep the dmenu-mac command running (perhaps using a multiplexer like gnu screen or a cronjob as z9fr mentioned) and then use the global shortcuts as you'd with "spotlight".

Or, of course, as mentioned above, this can be used with the open command as a part of one's normal dmenu-like workflows.
