BerryLan Mods (Raspbian buster)

Open mzanetti opened this issue 5 years ago • 7 comments

Not for merging. This is just to show a diff for the berrylan mods

  • replace dhcpcd5 with network-manager
  • seed in the nymea repository and nymea-networkmanager
  • patch nymea-networkmanager startup comand to use "Raspberry Pi" instead of nymea

Thanks for this tool. Why not make this a separate branch instead?

Not sure what you mean. Isn't this a separate branch?

Sorry, of course it is. I meant that the berrylan.org link could link to https://github.com/nymea/pi-gen/tree/berrylan-buster instead of this PR as it's confusing for instructions. I tried to find instructions again to set up berrylan on raspbian, no image for my pi 3 (already did it with a pi zero W)

So how do you set it up on vanilla Raspbian? I've forgot and the instructions aren't clear. Do I have to build the .app file then run that? Also, can you enable issues on github as I can move the discussion there. Thanks!

Please check the FAQ on berrylan.org for details how to install it on a plain raspbian: http://www.berrylan.org/faq.html

Please note, that the Debian 10 buster packages do not support the Pi0 at this point. For the Pi0 you'd need the packages for Debian 9 stretch. People reportedly installed the stretch package on buster too, so I believe it could work...

Also, discussion should happen in the forum: https://forum.nymea.io/c/berrylan

Thanks for explaining that. That's great! I remember seeing that before nowjust had trouble refinding it. Can you link to the faq question (http://www.berrylan.org/faq.html#5) on the berrylan.org site for plain raspbian? Would make it easier to find.
