Rework the Stone of Bryvx
Change it to use a new one-hit only recipe (any three/four Perfects). Remove the damage aura. And research if it is possible to have its damage type switch every round to match whatever the current armor type happens to be.
Still need to decide on the exact recipe. A few numbers for comparison's sake:
- A 3-piece Special:
≈ 1 in 1_036 - A 4-piece Special:
≈ 1 in 13_485 - Glitch: A Great (at least 2 Flawless):
≈ 1 in 77 - A Great (at least 2 Perfect - same type):
≈ 1 in 656 - A Great (at least 3 Flawless):
≈ 1 in 2_008 - A Great (at least 4 Flawless):
≈ 1 in 104_264 - New Stone of Bryvx (at least 3 Perfects - any type):
≈ 1 in 117 - Glitch: Old Stone of Bryvx / Bryvx Gem (at least 2 Perfects):
≈ 1 in 656 - New Stone of Bryvx (at least 4 Perfects - any type):
≈ 1 in 2_173 - Old Stone of Bryvx / Bryvx Gem (at least 3 Perfects):
≈ 1 in 52_173 - Old Stone of Bryvx / Bryvx Gem (at least 4 Perfects):
≈ 1 in 8_274_747
The numbers for any 4 Perfects look better, but I am not happy with them. That 1 in 2_173 seems too high. Now, if I put a limit on the Stone of Bryvx to one per player per game, then I might be okay with the 1 in 117 number. That's roughly 1 Stone every 4 games or so, assuming a player has 30 rounds in which to get Perfect gems. Still, I'm not entirely happy with that. Seems a bit low.
Even better might be requiring different Perfects (duplicates wouldn't count) in order to fulfill the recipe. That may push 3 Perfects closer to 1 in 200 (calculations pending). Of course, that would push 4 Perfects way beyond what I'd like (most likely closer to 1 in 4_000, if not higher).
Now, another question is how easy it will be to change the damage type. Obviously, some sort of chaos style damage would be best. But all the damage types are being used already. As such, I have to come up with some sort of workaround.
One option is to trigger the damage done. However, that does not solve the GUI issue of the player not visually seeing the damage type change each round.
For the idea of the multiple different Perfect recipe, the resulting output could depend on the input. That may be mentioned somewhere else, but the idea is worth remembering.
Once it is still there makes sense and if not well would be sad but a rework also is time well spent! Maybe after 230 Gold Gem Quality upgrade, there can be another at let's say 300 Gold and maybe another at 350 Gold but can Gem Quality go up to 100%, then what would be that cost? But such Tower is fun to get but also should be like a World of WarCraft drop that is like an instance of hours to a 1% out of 100 chance to get at least 3 of the same Perfect Gems rolled!
"With the Stone of Bryvx no longer being the quality above the Greats, then there needs to be a need quality: Bryvx's gems.
Consider using the model from the Round 42 unit. Look into having a floating orb around them that is colored to match whatever gem type they represent. Also, ensure that their projectile matches that gem type's damage.
As for balance, they will not do double the damage of a Great. That would cause balance problems, regardless of how rare they are. Rather, they would do excellent damage, but also be very useful, perhaps in ways other structures in the game do not provide."
I see no reason to introduce new permanent gem quality upgrades beyond 230. It would render the work put into balancing Extra Chance rather pointless.
