[Bug] Stop counting steps unexpectedly

Open gioisco opened this issue 7 months ago • 3 comments

Over the past few days, I've noticed that the app consistently shows 0 steps the following day, even after I start walking.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Checked all app permissions
  • Disabled the "Suspend app when unused" setting in Android
  • Paused and resumed step counting within the app

The only way I’ve been able to get the app working again is by reinstalling it (after exporting and re-importing my data).

How can I help you in troubleshooting this issue?

Hey @gioisco, thanks for reporting!

I need more information:

  • App version (this should be listed in the app details).
  • Your device model and Android version
  • Is the value higher than zero after exporting and importing back on this affected day?
  • What is your exact case? Does it show 0 steps in the top header or somewhere else?
  • Is this happening while walking at midnight, when the day changes, or it is not counting steps the next day (It's changing the steps to zero and not adding new steps, even right after midnight)?

This will help me understand your problem better.

Hi @nvllz , I haven’t been able to reproduce the bug. Over the past few days, the app has consistently tracked my steps, even when I walked around midnight.

The “0 steps” value appeared both in the widget and at the top of the app.

What exactly triggers the app to start updating the step count?

I'm using:

  • Device: OPPO A94 5G
  • OS: Android 13
  • App Version: 1.5.2

@gioisco

What exactly triggers the app to start updating the step count?

There's a background service that listens to the device's step-counting sensor. Based on your description, I think either something is stopping your app (aggressive memory cleaning) or it's just a visual bug.

Is the value higher than zero after exporting and importing back on this affected day?

If you could answer this, we would know more. If it's not zero, then the displayed label value is stuck. Otherwise, the app doesn't receive step data properly. To ensure reliability, it's important to exclude the app from any system cleanup and optimization tasks.
