outlook2010: Include checkbox in list item

Open nvaccessAuto opened this issue 11 years ago • 10 comments

Reported by surfer0627 on 2014-11-20 08:53 Reproduce: Case description: If you don't want to use some or any of the attachment previewers, do the following in Outlook:

  1. Click the File tab.
  2. Click Options
  3. Click Trust Center.
  4. Under Microsoft Outlook Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click Attachment Handling.
  5. To turn off a specific attachment previewer, click Attachment and Document Previewers, clear the check box for a previewer that you want to turn off, and then click OK. Here, a sighted person said that there are some checkboxes for each list item. NVDA speech does not show the element information.

Comment 2 by nvdakor on 2014-11-20 09:53 Hi, Confirmed in Outlook 2013. Technical: @Mick, I think we may need to narrow down which list items constitutes an auto-complete entry, as the items the poster talks about are recognized as such. Thanks.

Comment 3 by mdcurran (in reply to comment 2) on 2014-12-01 05:10 Replying to nvdakor: It is true that this should not be classed as an AutoCompleteListItem. However, as far as I can tel, this will not improve the accessibility of these items, as both IAccessible and UIA implementations of these items do not expose state_checked when checked. Perhaps we can do something with color... or perhaps MS can fix it.

Might the implementation of this list be similar to the wx check listbox is implemented? CC @michaeldcurran @josephsl

This is still an issue in Outlook 365. There is a list of applications that you can preview your attachments in, and each application can be enabled or disabled in the attachment handling list in the trust center settings. Unfortunately each list item contains a child object which is the checkbox of the item. NVDA reports only the parent element which is the application name, but not its child element which is the checkbox, when using up and down arrow keys.

cc: @msftedad can you please take this up with the developers team? The list items should have the checkbox property and state on a parent level as well, not only on the child level. Otherwise NVDA does not report it when the item is focused with the system focus.
