Better integration of Cinnamon applet color picker, Hangouts and Gradio
Dear all,
Currently using Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon with the default Numix icon theme and must say that I am deeply impressed by how well it integrates. Thank you for your work.
If you pay closer attention to the below screenshot, you will see that there are three application tray icons that do no look like they fit because of their colour and/or size. Is there anything we can do about those to integrate them better with Numix icons?
Hangouts extension uses hardcoded tray icons. We were able to fix them using Hardcode-Tray. But Chrome now verifies if the files were changed, and reinstall the extension which means the ugly icons get replaced again. So nothing we can do about it at the moment.
The Cinnamon colour picker applet uses a hardcoded tray icon, see https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-spices-applets/blob/master/color-picker%40fmete/files/color-picker%40fmete/applet.js#L79. It will require some patching using Hardcode-Tray too.
Gradio uses this as a tray icon https://github.com/haecker-felix/gradio/blob/738d88ede55b044d88fe742623cadef66c775728/src/gradio-main-window.vala#L146
I have taken a look at the color picker applet, and it seems that you can change the icon used for the tray and set a different icon name.
Dear @bil-elmoussaoui,
Appreciate your reply. Thanks!

OK.

Which means I need to install and use Hardcode-Tray?

Which Numix icon would you recommend me?
You don't need to use Hardcode-Tray if you're going to change the icon name from the applet settings. Currently we don't have a monochrome icon that you can use. You can try using something like color-select-symbolic
or color-picker-grey
.
For the Gradio application, we need to add de.haeckerfelix.gradio-symbolic
icon. But I'm not sure if it's going to happen see #498

/usr/share/icons/Numix/24/actions/color-picker-grey.svg
looks good. :-)

Thanks! Subscribed to the other issue to stay updated. For now, disabling the Gradio tray icon as I can live without it, too.
Btw, what's that firewall icon? Is it an update manager? If so, what is the app name? We normally have those icons on Numix base theme. If the icons are not hardcoded we can create few symlinks easily. Otherwise I will try to fix them using Hardcode-Tray
The shield is the icon of the Linux Mint update manager. :slightly_smiling_face:
