Libreoffice icon theme?

Open joelewing opened this issue 8 years ago • 11 comments

I know it's a big commitment to make, but I think it would be great to see a Numix Libreoffice icon theme. Some other icon themes already have Libreoffice icon themes (elementary, Mint-X, Faenza). I don't really see how the Sifr icons (included with Libreoffice) differ too much from the Numix feel, so it might be possible to substitute Sifr icons for the icons missing from the current Numix set.

Any thoughts on this?

Sure, I'd love to see this as well. But is incredibly much work to do. Plus there are many other applications yet to be themed.

We actually need the icon names to fulfil this request. Adding them is the first step to getting them covered :)

I'm working on a spreadsheet with the names of the Libreoffice icons matched with their Numix counterparts or absences. I'll keep you posted. Please note that once you have the names, it is not as simple as adding icons to your gtk icon theme. Libreoffice has its own theming engine, and needs pngs in a zipped archive installed in a special folder with a special folder structure.

Jees, okay. That's not going to be as nice as I'd hoped

The elementary guys are obviously working on an libreoffice icon theme: https://github.com/shimmerproject/libreoffice-style-elementary

Looking at the source svgs it doesn't look too bad, most of the icons are already there...

Oh that's cool! Back on the table then :)

Just as a note though, that's not the elementary team working on it but elementary XFCE aka the Xubuntu design team.

Hello, I mentioned making a spreadsheet with the names, but it's a big task and I think the elementary icons are a better reference anyways. So, I'm not planning to make a spreadsheet but would still love to see these Libreoffice icons happen.

Should I add a list here? It's relatively easy to do so if we are going to add the same icons as the Xubuntu guys. Anyways I guess for this a new repo is needed since libreoffice is special...

The best way to handle this imo would be to add the appropriate icons to this repo (in all the sizes needed, also symlinks were possible). Create a new repo called idk numix-libreoffice-theme (or sth. similar) and create a script there that generates all the needed libreoffice icons. This could be automated to run every week or so, so that the icons are always up to date, and fetch new icons from the base theme...

A what the heck, here are the icon names. I linked them to the icons from libreoffice-style-elementary. @Foggalong maybe you can copy that to the original post?

I'm going to transfer the icon requests to a separate issue and leave this one open as a request for the repo+script for building them. This is just to keep the above conversation intact since I think it's useful to have on record.
