A neat feature from fipi lele that I think is really useful: putting a @username in a comment subscribes that user to that thread at that post.
Q. Won't it be abused? A. Almost certainly.
Q. Will the abuser get banned? A. …did you even read the rules?

I don't see this as particularly useful. My subscriptions list is a list of things I'm interested in, not a list of places where my name was mentioned.
you weren't just mentioned, you were summoned.
the idea isn't to make threads look like Twitter, but to allow people to call attention to a thread they think you'd find relevant to your life.
and you can unsubscribe if you hate it. and squelch the person that called you there (which would turn off this feature)
Right now its an exercise for me to learn some php. I grabbed what looked like the lowest hanging fruit of the 12 issues. I hadn't even thought about the squelch bit at all
I think it is a reasonable idea, so long as I can turn off the behaviour with a toggle on the options page.
