questions about childcare text

In https://discover-cookbook.numfocus.org/06_childcare.html , I see

Based on our research, grants to cover childcare costs seem to be more popular with attendees.

I don't know what "more" is in reference to. Should this simply say

Based on our research, grants to cover childcare costs seem to be popular with attendees.

And what is "our research"? Should there be a citation for this?
