On 6.9.8-arch1-1 Archlinux KDE6 plasma, EC version: 14L1EMS1.307, MSI Modern 14 H, it seems like KDE's PowerDevil overwrites MCC "Mode" setting? Or the current "mode" doesn't get updated on one...
