Linux Mint 20.3, AppImage & *.deb don't play songs

Open CEHitchens opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Platform: Kernel: 5.13.0-40-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una Nuclear version: nuclear-bc8b7b (I tried both the AppImage as well as the 'regular' *.deb installer) Description of the issue:

  • Nuclear player opens but apparently regardless of which song I choose, they won't play. Song is added to the queue but this buffering circle thing won't stop spinning = not playing

Things that I have tried

  • disabling firewall = no difference
  • dmesg -w = nothing there
  • launched AppImage from terminal = main › (node:10115) [DEP0005] DeprecationWarning: Buffer() is deprecated due to security and usability issues. Please use the Buffer.alloc(), Buffer.allocUnsafe(), or Buffer.from() methods instead. (Use nuclear --trace-deprecation ...` to show where the warning was created) = Nuclear launched as expected and showing the same phenomenon
  • launched nuclear-bc8b7b.AppImage with appended --trace-deprecation = terminal output remains the same. Maybe I'd need to extract the AppImage and then launch the nuclear from there. No idea.
  • ran the same Nuclear version Windows *.exe on some Win8.1 box from the same LAN = worked
  • tested the 2nd last AppImage version = same phenomenon
  • deleted ~/.config/nuclear/ = no difference; simply gets recreated
  • nuclear-error.log contains: main > Main process failed to react to IPC clear queue event main > error trying to set discord activity since I don't care about Discord, disabling it in Nuclear's settings gets rid of that particular error (message).

UPDATE - still the same issue

Platform: Kernel: 5.15.0-33-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una Nuclear version: nuclear-3f9007.AppImage

Issue: Nuclear player is able to find songs, artists. Instructing it to play a selected song then though only puts it onto this playlist on the right hand side of the player's window and this circle thingy starts to spin BUT no playback starts.

Things that I have tried this time:

  • 2 or 3 different Invidious instances, listed at https://docs.invidious.io/instances/ , namely https://y.com.sb/ https://invidious.sethforprivacy.com/ and https://y.com.sb/
