I encountered the same error as well just now.

Duplicate of #70, #53, #45, #44, and #9

It's a false positive. It's already been fixed for the next version via #75.

Till then, just add the mod to your antivirus's whitelist (or don't use it if you don't trust it.)

Unfortunately this issue prevents me from downloading the latest release on any browser. I have tried Edge, Brave, Firefox.. they all show a "virus detected" error.

with firefox: open the download window -> right click the file -> allow download.

alternatively, here's a prerelease build that shouldn't have the false positive. https://github.com/nuggslet/MGSM2Fix/actions/runs/17529359302/artifacts/3947415391

There's now an auto-updated preview build for public contributions (so as of writing, changes on top of the 3.0 release). It should be visible at the top of the releases page: https://github.com/nuggslet/MGSM2Fix/releases This doesn't include upcoming major features (e.g. PGXP and unstretched HUD) as I don't need the stress of putting more unfinished work out again. :D The fixes in the preview are literally all @ShizCalev's work so please thank him - it includes efforts to evade anti-virus detections, and should be easier to find in future than an equivalent updated link like in the above comment (challenge: impossible). The next mainline release will of course roll the preview changes in (perhaps tweaked, perhaps not).

Preview works for me, thanks @nuggslet!

I believe we can close this issue.

I'm inclined to leave the issue open until a mainline release to help signpost people - I believe the bar for considering it "fixed" should be that it has gone out in a mainline release, not just the preview.
