three-tiered directory structure layout

My directory structure is three-tiered, with a layout.html file at each level. I've noticed that by the third level, the override for the main tag no longer works. Why is that? here is my directory structure:

www
index.md
layout.html
---posts
      index.md
       layout.html
      ---xxx
           abc.md
           layout.html

Okay, I came back to this, and it seems, that I've not read the bug report properly... Sorry about that.

Thank you for your attention. I ran the reproduction locally, and the issue still persists. It manifests as displaying "depth 2" at http://localhost:8080/d2/d3. If you need information about my local environment, feel free to ask.
