would you be willing to disassemble the cart and get pictures?

@dark-samus Yes, there they go. By the way, card can be firmware-updatable (Not kernel).

why was this closed? Anyway, can you provide the ROM dumped from GM9?

pixel-stuck avatar Aug 22 '17 03:08 pixel-stuck

It was closed because they said it's an RO chip, but I kinda doubt that to be the case if there's updaters available.

When dumping the flashcard's firmware and opening the resulting file in a Hex Editor, i can only see null bytes, so either the dump is faulty (Dumped the file many times, result is the same, so i highly doubt is ntrbootflash issue, or the card is R/O). Yes, it does have updates, but maybe they are doing some underlying stuff that prevents you from reading/writing to the flash of the card (Which is very impossible). Also, by looking at the flashcard's design, i don't see a RW-capable flash like other supported cards do. I don't know why it can update but at the same time prevents you dumping the flash. It's a very sketchy flashcard clone. Already bought one of the compatible ones. I hope this (Somehow) clarifies why (For now i guess...) isn't compatible. (Also, i'm totally open for corrections)

@cakehonolulu just because ntrboot_flasher doesn't properly dump it means basically nothing. If there's an updater, it can be reflashed. The readFlash, writeFlash, eraseFlash commands are flashcart specific, so the version you used to attempt to dump the flash simply didn't have the right commands sent to read the flash. Again, please dump the ROM via GM9.

The whole reason we asked for people to submit these issues is because we don't /know/ the command's needed for reading/writing for most cards

hedgeberg avatar Aug 22 '17 18:08 hedgeberg

Well, if the output of the "dump" is a .trim.nds file, there you go: ZippyShare EDIT: Dumped both files GM9 could give me. (The .nds file and the .trim.nds file) If you need the .nds, ask me, i'll upload it without any problems!

cakehonolulu avatar Aug 22 '17 18:08 cakehonolulu

We can't use the trim version, as it removes padding needed to align data. Can you get us the non-trim .nds?

hedgeberg avatar Aug 22 '17 18:08 hedgeberg

@hedgeberg There you go! New file

Is there any news on this? I currently have access to two cards from the same family.

Anybody has still this flashcard? I've got one I bricked trying to update its firmware. Could it be possible to do a backup in ntrbootflasher and restore it in my card?

Maybe this one works, it was packed in an archive named r4i-gold.eu_flash_backup.rar. r4i-gold.hk_flash_backup.zip

sorry for not having replied, i've been a bit busy this week. I've flashed it with NTRboot flasher but nothing seemed to happen. It flashed 32 chunks and it said complete, but when i insert the card in any ds it stays the same, no card detected.
