iBGP is not working

If I setup the script bgp_probe_client.pl to have the same AS number in $local_as and $remote_as then it is unable to establish BGP session with a router. Session is dropped by the script immediately with RST. But if I change local_as to something else (forming eBGP) then there are no issues.
